The Nicolet High School Foundation Shining Knight Award

Purpose and Philosophy

The measure of a school’s success can be found in the achievements of its alumni. Nicolet Union High School, through the Nicolet High School Foundation established the Shining Knights Award to recognize alumni who have made significant contributions to society through their professional careers, vocational accomplishments, and/or humanitarian endeavors. The distinction does more than honor its recipients. It also further illustrates the great value of the academic programs at Nicolet Union High School and increases the pride former students, staff and faculty have for the school. 

Criteria for Selection 

Recipients must be a graduate of Nicolet High School and have earned distinction in the following: 

  1. Professional Achievement and Career Distinction: The recipient has attained recognition through his or her efforts in their chosen career or vocation. 

  2. Service to Community/Society:  The recipient exhibits integrity and a demonstrated commitment to service through an interest in bettering the lives of others through volunteer efforts with a focus on education.

Method of Nomination 

Nominations may be made for Nicolet Shining Knight Award by any individual, group or organization: 

  1. The Nicolet High School Foundation Shining Knight Award Nomination Form can be found online at  Nicolet Shining Knight Nomination Form. In addition to completing and submitting the Award Nomination Form (required), nominators are encouraged to provide supporting items that further distinguish the nominee. Such items include, but are not limited to: 

Letter of nomination written by the nominator (required) 
Nominees current biography or curriculum vitae 
Other items of interest which could include:

Awards/recognitions
Newspaper and magazine articles
Testimonials

  1. Nomination forms will be held for each individual for a period of three years. If an individual is not selected for the award, his or her nomination may be considered in a subsequent year. The Foundation will contact nominators for an updated application if warranted. 

  2. No limitation will be placed on the total number of nominations accepted for consideration.

Method of Award Recipient Selection 

  1. The Nicolet High School Foundation will appoint a selection committee to include a Foundation Board member, a member of the high school administration team, a faculty member and community members of which at least one is a Nicolet alum.  

  2. The Foundation will submit the nominations to the committee in advance of the Selection Committee meeting. 

  3. The decision to award the Shining Knight Award is at the sole discretion of the Selection Committee.

Announcement and Recognition 

The Nicolet High School Foundation will announce honorees and honor each recipient with the appropriate recognition at a public event.
