The Nicolet German students competed in the 33rd annual UW-Madison German Day Competition. The team was buoyed by award-winning performances by the German 4-5 Skit and Alex Friedel’s rendition of Goethe’s Gefunden. Nicolet is one of two schools in the state to have participated in each of the 33 competitions. Way to go❗

Each month, each academic department will be selecting a Student of the Month who has demonstrated and displayed these characteristics. Each Student of the Month earns Nicolet swag, bragging rights, and schoolwide recognition for being one of our top students!

Nicolet Ceramics students took art on the road as they delivered their monsters to their 2nd grade Parkway clients. The 2nd graders used the elements and principles of art to design their monsters with the high schoolers using their 3D clay handbuilding skills to bring the monsters to life. Nicolet students delivered their creations during each of the 2nd grade classes art class to meet their clients & deliver the finished product. There were 119 monsters created and delivered by 94 Nicolet students, making this huge collaboration that will hopefully continue for years to come 👾

Around 100 Nicolet High School ceramics students brought in materials to wrap monster creations created for second grade partners at Parkway Elementary. The students have been working on these pieces since February and will be each be delivering to Parkway. There were 119 monsters made by Nicolet Ceramics students with many students making two to make sure every student receives one. Students also packaged their pieces with QR codes so parents and kids can see a website of a portfolio of how the piece was made. Donut Monster provided donuts and juice for all the students as a surprise thank you for the high schoolers doing such a kind thing for their second grade buddies.

Nicolet students Sydnee Ollman and Demian Harris were selected as the "Service Above Self" recipients who demonstrate commitment to the community through service and volunteerism, impeccable character, and high academic potential and performance 👏 The Rotary Club of Milwaukee North Shore celebrates the success of local high school students through the annual Service Above Self Awards. Sydnee and Demian will receive a $50 cash award, a $50 cash gift to the charity of their choice, and a certificate. 🔵 Sydnee Ollman is a junior at Nicolet High School and one of two students selected as a Service Above Self recipient who demonstrates a commitment to the community through service and volunteerism, impeccable character, and high academic potential and performance. She is an active member of Best Buddies, a group of students who create opportunities for one-on-one friendships and inclusive activities for people with intellectual disabilities. Sydnee also volunteers her time coaching multiple youth volleyball teams throughout the community, and sharing her passion for art by helping teach adults ceramics. She is a leader for Art Club and Link Crew, both aiming to have a positive impact on our school culture. Sydnee intentionally works to make Nicolet a better place by taking the time to get to know others and to include students of all abilities along the way. Nicolet teachers say Sydnee is amazing, positive, welcoming, empathetic, kind, and always willing to help those around her, making her deserving of the Service Above Self Award. 🔵 Demian Harris is a junior at Nicolet High School and one of two students selected as a Service Above Self recipient who demonstrates a commitment to the community through service and volunteerism, impeccable character, and high academic potential and performance. He is passionate and a leader in helping raise money to give back to our school and our community. Demian is one of our students recognized for bringing Pencils of Promise to Nicolet, an organization that aims to raise funds and give back to underserved schools around the country, where he serves as the financial advisor. Demian takes on many leadership roles as a member of the National Honor Society, the French Honor Society, French Club, as a varsity football player, and on the varsity track team. He is also an active member of Nicolet’s Symphonic Band and a Link Leader, and he volunteers with his family at local soup kitchens. Demian is described by his teachers as absolutely outstanding, generous, caring, genuine, and so very deserving of the Service Above Self Award.

Congratulations to Nicolet Performing Arts on their Jerry Awards nominations for Mean Girls🎭 Recognized for Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Ensemble, Outstanding Orchestra, seven Outstanding Lead Performers, four Outstanding Supporting Performers, and many other crew categories —what an amazing achievement! Nicolet students competed in the Southeastern Wisconsin German Pronunciation Contest held at Greenfield High School. The contest required students to present a poem and make a presentation in German. Nicolet qualified 29 students for the state competition. The Morehead-Cain Scholarship is a four-year, fully-funded educational experience for outstanding students interested in the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Nicolet can nominate two current juniors to apply for this scholarship who have demonstrated leadership, scholarship, physical vigor, and moral force of character. Morehead Cain Scholars are motivated, courageous, inquisitive leaders interested in embracing new and unknown experiences and positively impacting the people and pursuits that define their lives. Interested in consideration, please submit an email to Ms. Johnson (bobbie. johnson@nicolet.us), School Counselor, detailing in a brief paragraph specific examples of how you have demonstrated these qualities. The deadline is 3 pm, on Friday, May 2, 2025.

The Nicolet Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Club sent six students to the State Leadership Conference at the Kalahari this past week. Mila de Oliveira placed 4th in the competitive event Physical Therapy. Everett Lee was also recognized as an Academic Testing Center (ATC) Exam top finalist (top 5) in Microbiology. The Nicolet theater department will be presenting their Children's show - Wizard Of Oz on April 26 & 27 🏰 The Wizard of Oz is perhaps the most popular children’s story ever written. A cyclone carries Dorothy and her dog, Toto, to the magical land of Oz, where they encounter all the famous characters from the pen of L. Frank Baum... the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Woodsman, the rubber-legged Scarecrow, Glinda the Good Witch, and the evil Witch of the West, who is determined to destroy Dorothy and steal the secret of the red slippers. Eventually Dorothy defeats the evil witch, finds a way to return to Kansas, and her companions have their wishes granted. Due to limited seating, and patrons acquiring tickets and then not attending the performance, ticket holders must arrive at least 10 minutes before show time to ensure their seats.
